Windows mIRC Chat Software Procedures Version 5.51

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a virtual meeting place where people from all over the world can meet and talk; you'll find the whole diversity of human interests, ideas, and issues here, and you'll be able to participate in group discussions on one of the many thousands of IRC channels, or just talk in private to family or friends, wherever they are in the world.

To use IRC you need a small program like mIRC, a shareware IRC client for Windows, written by Khaled Mardam-Bey. mIRC is a friendly IRC client that is well equipped with options and tools. You can download mIRC here to try it out.

Note: Since we are not MAC users we do not have the resource to provide you with MAC instructions.  However, if anyone would like to write some for us we would be very greatful.  MAC IRC information and software can be found at: Kent Sorensens Mac Software

Step 15. When the mIRC Setup window opens fill in your Full Name,
e-mail Address, Nickname, and Alternative Nickname fields.  Also,
check the Invisible mode box.  Many people use false names here
so as not to reveal their true identity.  You never know what kooks
are lurking on the Internet.  Unless you're prepared to handle them,
stay aloof.  There is no law that requires you to reveal exactly who
you are on the internet.  Besides, if the law enforcement authorities
really want to know who you are, they have the tools and court orders
to get that information should they need it.
