Overview
Welcome to The Rookie DayTrader. We hope you will visit with us for a
while. This site is dedicated to all wannabe day traders, position traders, and investors. This site
is your starting point. Soon, you will graduate to the more sophisticated sites. But, for now, you
need to start somewhere and that place is here. Good luck and welcome aboard.
Objective
The objective of The Rookie DayTrader web site is to:
- Introduce and emphasize the risks involved with trading in the stock market
- Identify the type of equipment you will need to trade on-line.
- Guide you through the process of learning trading as a business and learning to
trade.
- Provide you with many links to sites related to trading and investing.
Summary
Introduce and emphasize the risks involved with trading in the stock market:
There are many risks involved in trading. Risk Management is very
important. The
SEC Investor
Education site addresses this issue in detail.
Identify the type of equipment you will need to trade on-line:
The sections on ISPs, Modems, Monitors
and the PC introduce you to the type of equipment that you
will need to trade successfully. Equipment comes in many shapes and sizes and bigger is not always
better. Often its how you use it that counts.
Guide you through the process of learning trading as a business and learning to
trade:
This is the most important portion of this site and the one section that will
affect your life the most. This section is the key to your future. The section on Learning to Trade will guide you, using a step-by-step
process, through the maze of information that is needed to learn the trading business. You will use
this section to link to many other web sites that have been chosen for their educational content and value.
By using the Learning to Trade
section as your guide, you will return to it for each step in the learning process. Be patient, go slow
and learn. Don't skip over anything. Soon, all the pieces of the trading puzzle will come together.
You will be guided to such sites as the
SEC Investor Educational site,
Motley Fool's 13 Steps to Learning,
Decision Point's Technical
Analysis, Basic
Principles of Trading,
Clear
Station's Education site, and many many more.
You will also be given a basic guide on how to do Research, several good Research Tools, and then taken
to a list of sites that offer Simulated Trading with
live data. Simulated Trading is extremely
important as it offers you the opportunity to practice before risking real money. Simulated Trading will also help you understand if
trading is really for you.
Not everyone is suited to the discipline required for trading
in the stock market. If trading is not for you, do not let your pride and ego get in the way. Stop
before you risk real money.
A key point to remember is that trading in the stock market is not a "Get-Rich-Quick"
scheme. If you are not careful, and you fail to use good Risk Management, it will be a "Go-Broke-Fast"
disaster and you will be faced with financial loss.
Provide you with many links to sites related to trading and investing:
Once you have completed the Step-by-Step learning process, you will be ready to
move on to the more sophisticated web sites where a wealth of information awaits you.
Eventually, as you learn more, you will leave The Rookie DayTrader behind in favor of
the more technical, detailed, and in-depth sites. However, we do hope that you will return from
time-to-time
Please tell other "wannabe traders" about our site as this is a great
place to begin the learning process.
Lastly, our Summary-of-Links is
a complete list of links found on
The Rookie DayTrader web
site. It's a good quick lookup location. Even print it and carry it with you as you travel.
Next, pull up that
comfortable chair or even the Lazy-boy recliner. You are going to need it. You are going to be here
for a while as you begin your fantastic voyage into the world of trading in the markets.
Now, start at our
Home page and welcome to the fantastic world of trading.
